American
Public Human Services Association (APHSA)
A nonprofit, bipartisan organization, includes all state and many territorial
human service agencies, more than 1,200 local agencies, and several thousand
individuals who work in or otherwise have an interest in human service programs.
APHSA educates members of Congress, the media, and the broader public on what
is happening in the states concerning welfare, child welfare, health care reform,
and other issues involving families and the elderly.
The Brookings
Institution
In its research, The Brookings Institution functions as an independent analyst
and critic, committed to publishing its findings for the information of the public.
In its conferences and activities, it serves as a bridge between scholarship
and public policy, bringing new knowledge to the attention of decisionmakers
and affording scholars a better insight into public policy issues.

The CBPP provides research on a wide variety of government policies that affect
children.
Center
for Law and Social Policy (CLASP)
CLASP is a national nonprofit organization with expertise in both law and policy
affecting the poor. Through education, policy research and advocacy, CLASP seeks
to improve the economic conditions of low-income familes with children and secure
access for the poor to our civil justice system.
KIDS COUNT
KIDS COUNT, a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, is a national and state-by-state
effort to track the status of children in the United States. (CDF-Ohio is the
Ohio KIDS COUNT grantee.)
National Conference of State
Legislatures (NCSL)
NCSL serves state legislators and their staffs with research on critical state
issues, publications, meetings and seminars, a legislative information database,
a voice in Washington, and an expert staff to assist in solving difficult problems.

Governors' Association
NGA is the only bipartisan national organization of, by, and for
the nations' Governors. This site contains a page called, "The
Center for Best Practices," which provides access to a variety of
child health publications, as well as an overview of CHIP and weekly
updates on CHIP plans.
Stand
for Children
Stand for Children is a strong, positive, and practical grassroots voice for
children's health, education, and safety, uniting and supporting people with
a heart for children. Stand for Children seeks to build a voice for children
as strong as the AARP's is for seniors, Sierra Club's is for environmentalists,
and NRA's is for gunowners.
United Way
(Ohio) Online
Ohio United Way extends the impact of the local United Way in your community,
by serving as advocates and public policy representatives on a statewide basis;
providing research, data and support services to increase their efficiency;
and fostering public/private partnerships.
Voices
for America's Children
Formerly the National Association of Child Advocates (NACA), Voices for America's
Children is a national organization committed to working at the state and local
levels to improve the well-being of children. With member organizations in almost
every state, Voices provides a voice for the voiceless – children – in
city halls and statehouses across the country.
